THE PARISH COUNCILS OF TRIMLEY ST MARY AND TRIMLEY ST MARTIN
In 2002 both Parish Councils opposed the Trinity College “Vision” and they both also oppose large scale housing developments around the Trimley Villages as per five of the six Housing Options proposed by the LDF Task Group. They meet once a month when, along with regular village business, the Local Development Framework is frequently discussed. The positive side to Parish Council lobbying is that they “officially” represent the views of villagers and this gives their views legitimacy and credibility. However, with meetings that are monthly it follows that decisions can only be made on a monthly basis - and sometimes no decisions are reached at all. This is where STAG has an advantage - we are not constrained by standing orders or the need to discuss and ratify. Where the need arises we can react quicker than either Parish Council, and say and do things that they cannot.

“Please remember parish council meetings are open to the public and your comments and involvement are always welcome, our Clerk Tracey Hunter and myself are usually contactable during reasonable hours. As a council we do not have enormous powers but we are the only 'voice' at parish level and who's views have to be considered by larger authorities. We try to reflect the wishes of the parish and although I cannot guarantee that they will always be granted it is always the councillors' intention to do the best they can. “
